What is an interdisciplinary clinic?
An interdisciplinary clinic is a healthcare facility that brings together professionals from different disciplines to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients. Instead of focusing solely on one aspect of healthcare, such as a specific medical specialty, interdisciplinary clinics promote collaboration and integration among various healthcare professionals. This approach allows for a more holistic and well-rounded approach to patient care.
VFH (Veterans For Healing) is doing something great by establishing an interdisciplinary clinic specifically dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. By bringing together a diverse team of professionals, including pain specialists, general physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and allied health practitioners, VFH ensures that veterans receive comprehensive care that addresses their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
How does it work?
Once a veteran has completed the registration process at the clinic, their journey towards healing and well-being begins. Here’s an overview of how the clinic typically operates post-registration:
Intake and Assessment

MEDICAL PSILOCYBIN
What is psilocybe?
Psilocybe is a genus of gilled mushrooms that includes over 150 different species, found around the world from the tropics to the arctic. Each species has its own set of features that define it, from the size and shape of the cap, to the size and shape of the microscopic spores they release to reproduce. This genus is best known for the species with psychedelic properties.
What is psilocybin?
Psilocybin is the naturally occurring compound found in “magic mushrooms”. Psilocybin is the key ingredient that, when consumed, is converted in the body to psilocin, which is the chemical with the psychoactive properties. Psilocybin works in the body to trigger changes in perception, mood and thought.
What therapeutic uses does psilocybin have?
Psilocybin has been shown to accelerate the healing process in many people for distressing emotional symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and substance abuse.
The physical and mental health benefits of psilocybin can be achieved through microdosing practices or through psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy combining the therapeutic effects of psilocybin with the support of an experienced and trusted therapist.
What is microdosing?
Microdosing refers to taking a small fraction of what is considered a recreational dose of psilocybin mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms. Microdosing psilocybin has been shown to improve mood, induce physical and mental stimulation, and encourage creative thinking. Studies have shown that by microdosing psilocybin or by consuming psilocybin under the supervision and guidance of a medical professional, mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and PTSD can be treated.
